Have you ever done something that you never thought you would do?
That’s what I’m doing right now…well actually, who knows what I’m doing as you read this but as I type this, I’m asking myself why I’m doing this. What a whirl of weirdness right there! Anywho, at the suggestion, or rather demand of my professor Shenid Bhayroo, I’m typing my first blog post.
Herein lies the problem. I don’t know what to talk about.
I don’t have a nifty theme or special angle and as a young journalist, I know that whatever I type is trapped in the ether forever so I must be choosy.
What would people want to read about me? Do people care about what I have to say? I wish someone could reach into my brain and find ideas for me, for free (and less painfully).
So what should it be? Food? Lack of exercise? Bizarre neighbors on my eerie block? Friendship?
If you were me, what would YOU write about in this lovely blog space?

What if you do all of the above? Like what’s going on in your life? Do you have to have a specific topic to focus on? I’d love to hear about what you’ve been up to, and the many adventures of Maya.
Write about something you know and have a passion for, you can always switch in-between topics. A book that you love, a trip that you enjoy, or just what happened in your day. You have your own insights to the world, just write about what moves you.
Looking at the picture I would say that Maya might be hiding or is she still trying to figure out…but wait, I looked at the picture again and saw a date stamp of 3/15/2006 and realized this is a snapshot of Maya’s silly, yet serious college days.
Look before you put your foot in your mouth.
I would write about absolutely nothing. So many of these blogs have a theme. There are wedding blogs, sports blogs, school blogs, be true to yourself and write a MAYA blog. You are interesting, and it would be better to know about you and your experiences in general than to specifically know exactly how you wipe your butt everyday with charmin. I am just sayin…..
I think you are a wonderful storyteller and by no coincidence, you have many a story to tell. I know I have learned meaningful lessons from you and you probably learned something too along your way. Share them with the world!
Also you could just write about Saturday’s special church session, 1:30pm, Food Network.
Choose an issue, it can range from politics to education to female friendships & write a personal opinion about it, that would be interesting & it surely will evoke a friendly debate amongst blogspot buddies
Hypothetically explain how you would fight a bear.
I think you have LOTS to talk about! I mean the conversations we have and have had in the past are a book in themselves. Take things piece by piece and focus on the little things. Even if it is that someone held the door for you today, or didn’t hold the door, there is a story there! I know you’ll reach a point where you’ll ALWAYS have something to write about. We all get stuck as writers, I have my blog attached, and you’ll see it has been a while since I posted, haha. But like you, I will get it together. “Let’s give em’ something to talk about” Maya!
*Lish
You are always inspiring others so write about what inspires YOU, the one and only, miss maya. How do you always know what to tell others when they are stressed or going through a tough time…. You have shared so much with me and I think you can continue to share with others in these blogs
I’ll be looking forward to reading them
…or you could always just write about bears
I agree with Joi; I would write about absolutely nothing! I don’t know if you ever saw the movie ‘Motherhood’, but the protagonist in it starts a blog about NOTHING (and motherhood) and in theory it may sound crazy to others, but for the rest of the world, it could be interesting. I find this first entry good and inspring as well. Perhaps I may want to start one; I’ve started writing a book and its a slow process but really fun. So from one writer to another, I hope that you continue with it because I will look forward to reading it.
Ok, Maya, it’s time. Very useful suggestions – from education, to politics, to fighting a bear – from everyone who cares to read what you write. I suggest, nay, I demand that you write another post. Post haste
